Kenneth Clarkson
Founder & SAT Math Specialist
Most US-bound students in New Zealand sit in a handful of schools — from Kristin and the international programmes to ACG. I taught IB maths at Kristin School, coach at Scholarship and IB Higher Level daily — well above SAT-Math level — and have guided students to universities here and overseas, including Imperial, Columbia and Chicago. Wherever you are in New Zealand, we work online.
Built for US-university ambitions
SAT Math prep is a specialist job for a specialist audience. If your child is one of these, this is built for them.
US-university-bound students
Aiming at American colleges where the SAT still matters for admission and merit scholarships.
International & private-school students
Sitting the SAT alongside NCEA, Cambridge or IB — often at Auckland's international programmes.
Retakers chasing a superscore
Already sat once and want to lift the Math score to raise the composite on the next attempt.
Strong students targeting near-800
Capable mathematicians who want the technique and precision to convert ability into a top Math score.
Math is 800 of the 1600 — and the fastest half to lift
For a maths-capable student, the Math section is usually where the composite is most improvable.
The digital SAT is scored out of 1600 — 800 for Math and 800 for Reading & Writing. For a strong New Zealand student, the Math half is both the more winnable section and the one where focused, specialist coaching moves the number fastest: much of the gain comes from technique, the Desmos calculator and the adaptive-module strategy, not just content you already know.
So rather than spread across the whole test, I do one thing properly — Math — as a specialist who teaches above this level every day. If you want the most efficient route to a higher composite, pushing Math toward 800 is usually it.
Specialist digital-SAT Math coaching
Targeted, digital-format practice
Question sets matched to the exact digital-SAT Math content and style — heart of algebra, advanced maths, problem-solving and data analysis, geometry and trigonometry — focused on your weakest areas first.
Desmos calculator mastery
I'm a genuine Desmos expert — I've built classroom activities with the Desmos team — and the digital SAT rewards fluency with the Desmos graphing calculator, available throughout the Math section. I'll drill the shortcuts most students never discover: solving, graphing and checking in seconds, which is worth real marks.
Adaptive-module strategy
The test adapts: how you do on the first Math module sets the difficulty — and the score ceiling — of the second. We build a pacing and accuracy strategy specifically for that structure.
Exam technique & timing
The traps, the fast routes, when to use the calculator and when not to, and how to manage the clock so careless drops disappear under pressure.
A full timed mock + review
A complete, timed practice test in the digital format, followed by a detailed review of exactly where the marks went and what to change.
Progress you can see
Every session is saved as personal revision notes, and we track the score trajectory so you always know where you stand before test day.
The whole journey, guided
More than lessons: I help you choose the right sitting for your deadlines, stay ahead of the registration cut-offs, pick the right New Zealand test centre, and plan a smart retake-and-superscore strategy — so the logistics never trip you up.
How the digital SAT Math section actually works
It moved fully digital and adaptive — and that changes how you prepare.
The SAT is now taken entirely on a computer in College Board's Bluebook app. The Math section is split into two modules, and it's adaptive: how you perform on the first module determines the difficulty — and the score ceiling — of the second. That makes accuracy early in the section unusually important, and it's a big part of the strategy we build.
Every question also has a built-in Desmos graphing calculator available, and using it fluently is worth real marks — solving equations, reading intersections and checking answers in seconds. Most students never learn how much it can do; we make it a weapon.
You can read the official format on the College Board SAT site — and then we turn that format into a concrete, personalised plan for your Math score.

Taught by a specialist
I teach every SAT Math session myself. Here's my full background, and what students and families have said.
Kenneth Clarkson
My goal isn't just to get your child through the next test — it's to build strong foundations that set them up for the long term. I teach for understanding over memorising, keep lessons calm and encouraging, and tailor each student's path toward wherever they're heading, whether that's NCEA, Cambridge, IB, or beyond.
What families say
“We really appreciate the positive impact Kenneth has had on our son. Michael often tells us how much he enjoys Kenneth's lessons, and they've made a real difference to his confidence and understanding in maths. Thank you, Kenneth, for being such a wonderful teacher.”
